Praying Tuesdays
[11/6/2009]
“At all times, pray by the powerof the Spirit. Pray all kinds ofprayers. Be watchful, so thatyou can pray. Always keep onpraying for all God’s people.” - Ephesians 6:18
Praying Tuesdays is a focus and central core of what we are doing. We are keen to see this grow and develop in our Diocese. We are asking Parishes and individuals to make prayer a priority in 2009 and beyond to pray for the children and the youth of our Diocese. If you would like to join in prayer and you are in the Midland area please go to Ascension Church on Mondays 12pm praying for children’s Ministry. There are a number of groups praying for children, but please join Cathy at St Philips, Cottesloe on Thursdays 9.30am or contact the ACYM office for more details. Wouldn’t it be great to have more prayer groups in the suburbs. If you are interested in forming a group like this please let me know. If you haven’t started to be part of this or you would like more information please ring me (ACYM office 9389 9238) or drop me an email (ellie@acm.perth.anglican.org). If you would like to receive the Prayer Diary by email please ring or email the office.
2009 Parish-based Programs
[11/6/2009]
For 2009 we have 3 Parish based programs available. They are called Outreach Assist, Curriculum Assist and Alternative Curriculum Assist. This is where the Fieldworker would come to your parish and work together with your children’s leaders
Outreach Assist explores ways of loving service in the community for children through play groups and holiday programmes.
Curriculum Assist provides opportunities to look at a range of teaching materials suitable for church time.
Alternative Curriculum Assist looks at more possibilities on a Sunday.

Mainly Music: a Playgroup resource
[11/6/2009]
I had the privilege to attend a Mainly Music session. Please read what I found out.“Before Easter I attended a demonstration of Mainly Music. I thought you would be interested to hear about it. This programme is a during-the-week activity which is used as an outreach into the community. It is geared from babies to pre- schoolers and their Mums or carers. They would sing along, do fun actions to lovely songs and respond to instrumental music by using streamers or instruments. This was followed by morning tea and then free play for the children. The programme is easy to run and you need a team of 4. The team I saw had 2 Mums (they would share the leading) and 2 Grannies (one welcoming and helping while the other would be putting the words up). It is in the morning tea time and free play time that relationships can be formed as they reach out in loving service to the young Mums and children. This group has found opportunities for people to flow into the church through a young Mums’ Bible study and on one occasion a team singing a song from Mainly Music in church. If you think this programme would work well in your parish please ring or email me. You don’t have to have a great voice as you sing along to the good quality CDs. Mainly Music is running in many countries around the world and we have some Anglican country parishes involved very successfully. “
As many have said:
Mainly Music provides a vehicle for regular contact with unchurched families in your community.
Mainly Music provides a vehicle for one – on - one evangelism
Mainly Music provides a vehicle for family ministry
Mainly Music shows how you can honour parents in your community
Mainly Music provides a focus even when local leadership changes
