ACYMC Launch (16/05/09)

Over 50 people, clergy and families attended a Celebration Service to launch the Anglican Children and Youth Ministries Commission (ACYMC). Ellie Macpherson, the Children’s Ministries fieldworker, helped to coordinate the Celebration Service and was delighted to see this important ministry supported by so many people in the Diocese.  The Celebration Service enjoyed a teenage singing group sing some contemporary worship songs and see a group of children aged from 3 through to 12 years dance to the“The Story.” “The Story” told of the life of Jesus and how “I gotta feelin’ God loves me, gotta feelin’ God cares. I gotta feelin’ God knows ‘cause I read it in the Bible and it’s all there Oh yeah!” Prayer was an important part of the Service with all ages praying for the Ministry of ACYMC. Beautifully decorated panels by children and youth were brought forward and became a large collage showing the range of children and youth ministries in the Diocese. We had Boys Ministries, GFS, Kids plus, Youthcare, Anglican schools, children’s church, mission through Pilgrimmage of Hope and Bible and Prayer panels. The Archbishop spoke about the mustard seed. We were filled with a sense of challenge ahead of us all as we support and embrace this developing ministry along with a deep sense of peace and unity as we gathered as God’s people. It was an enjoyable afternoon especially hearing the instrumental music by another teenage group.
